There are many ways to monitor and assess student progress, from informal to formal and many times both inside and outside a lesson. In an ideal language classroom, teachers and students are constantly monitoring progress. However, this requires substantial training for both teachers and students.
This interactive workshop is mainly designed to help teachers:
- adapt and simplify complex rubrics like those used for TOEFL Primary speaking scoring
- provide constructive and meaningful feedback to students using adapted rubrics,
- create simple rubrics based on the learning objectives and communication goals
- provide opportunities for their students to monitor and assess themselves and each other
- guide their students through simple self- and peer-assessment tasks
